Hello again, RACEheads! As most of you know already via the RACE ODYSSEY and Johnny Race pages on Facebook and MySpace, RACE ODYSSEY will be playing with ZEBRA at The Crazy Donkey/Club Loaded on August 14th. That's only ten days away now, and while RACE ODYSSEY die-hards have already purchased their advance tickets, those of you just finding out can still purchase advance tickets here! The Wickers show on June 19th,2009 was an evening nobody expected. The show started off with RANDY JACKSON(Zebra) pulling off an exceptional set of Zebra music to an audience that was blown away by Randy's renditions of the catalog of Zebra's outstanding music. His presence, guitar work and vocals (better than ever)...truly mesmerizing!
RACE ODYSSEY came on strong, including covers to keep the audience ALIVE."Stuck In The Middle With You" opened the set and segued into Kenny Wayne Sheppard's "Blue On Black." Johnny Race thanked the audience and brought back Randy Jackson on stage to do Zebra's "Tell Me What You Want", with Randy and Jenn Bialy on vocals, featuring Chris Wider on lead guitar.
Randy stayed on stage to do a killer version of Led Zeppelin's "Misty Mountain Hop" and the crowd went wild..."Randy & Race Odyssey are true Rock N Roll!" yelled Johnny Race, and we couldn't agree more.
Special thanks to Long Island's greatest classic rock n roll band JP5, Joe Volpe, Buddy, Johnny Heeton and Mike (a fantastic sound engineer)! Be sure to catch JP5 playing live...truly an amazing band.
And most of all, thanks to all our RACE ODYSSEY fans for making this memorable evening possible!

RACE ODYSSEY is also pleased to announce the addition of Johnny Heaton on drums. Heaton hails from Long Island's classic rock band JP5, and replaces longtime drummer Rick Frauenthal, a 25-year veteran with RACE ODYSSEY and Johnny Race. Frauenthal has stepped down to move on with family obligations, and leaves with well wishes from the RACE ODYSSEY camp.
Keep an eye on the horizon for Rick's son, Ryan Frauenthal, who is also a drummer and is "up-and-coming" in the music scene!

RACE ODYSSEY extends our wishes and condolences to the family of music promoter Jim McGinnis who passed away this past weekend. Jim was a member of the ZEBRA family circle and a familiar face to ZEBRA fans in the New Orleans and New York music scenes.
Jim promoted and helped countless bands and musicians in his lifetime. He will be missed.

RACE ODYSSEY took their powerhouse show once again before a frenzied crowd opening for rock icon Randy Bachman (Bachman Turner Overdrive/Guess Who) at New York’s B.B. King Blues Bar. Their opening set was as follows:

"Season Of The Witch" (Donovan)
“Cold Gin” (KISS)
The theatrics included vocalist/guitarist Chris Wider trading licks with guitarist Johnny Race (playing each other’s guitar necks!) and the welcomed bravado of Johnny Race’s “guitar-in-the-air, around-the-back and in your face” style, fronting a sonic assault that included Jennifer Bialy’s vocals on “Jane Says” and Johnny Heeden on drum duties. This hard-working band left the crowd ready for more.
Once again, RACE ODYSSEY thanks the support of their fans and the fans of Randy Bachman for coming out to help make the show a success!

The footage was shot at the B.B. King Blues Club & Grill show with ZEBRA, and the video captures the energy of RACE ODYSSEY as they closed out their set. It's a must-see!
